After doing some research over at pipedia, I found that the Willmer pipe company had an interesting history and were considered a quality pipe company. Here is a link http://pipedia.org/index.php?title=Willmer if anyone is interested in the history of the company. So I did my homework and found an example I really liked at a really good price. It is a group 6 in size and weighs 68 grams.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the comments.
old cajun, those thick walls really drew me to that one. It is one of the things I look for when buying a pipe because of all the flake I smoke.
photoman, in the past I had collected Italian, German, Danish and English pipes, when I came back after a few years off, I had sold off a lot of my collection and decided that I really like the traditional shapes and the history of the English mfgs. In my opinion the Brits make some great smoking pipes with shapes I like and at prices that are very reasonable, especially in the estate market. Before I only had Upshalls and a couple of Dunhills, I had no knowledge of Charatan, Willmer,Ashton, Ferndown, Sasieni, GBD and Astley, so I began to look into them.

Well my new baby arrived safely and I am smoking as I type. I loaded it up with some Astley's no. 44 Dark flake and it tastes great. It is smoking extremely cool and dry as a bone. The tobacco tastes like it should and there is not a hint of ghosting. The pipe honestly looked like it was used maybe a few times, it is like brand new. I am a very happy camper right now.

Just smoked my second bowl in this( Astley's no.44) and I am still amazed at how cool it smokes. I just took one of my dogs for a walk and I am always clenching when I walk him and will invariably not pay attention and my bowl can get pretty warm, but this thing just refuses to do that. I can't wait for the second one to get here so I can see if it is the brand and the quality of briar or if this is just an anomaly.

colcolt, I have other really thick walled pipes that are great but still can get hot if I don't pay attention. There is something about this one. I'll know more when I get the other one.
cajun, where I live the only thing I have to worry about is getting hit by some old geezer, who can't see. lol
This is where I live. It's like a country club. http://www.theislesonpalmerranch.com/index.html
