Lance Reddick RIP

Sad to hear of the death of Lance Reddick from the excellent series The Wire. Lance's death is another of several recently that have brought my own mortality even closer. I have little to add just now other than hearing of the death of a seemingly fit individual little more than a decade older than myself leaves me feeling raw. I know many here will be older than that, however this makes me a little scared.

For me, he will always be Agent Phillip Broyles from Fringe.

I saw this reported on the news yesterday, along with a small picture of the guy.

I bought The Wire boxset a couple of years ago and gave up watching after about disc 5 as I didn't really enjoy it. Anyway, the Picture I saw yesterday didn't help me pinpoint which character he played but the pictures above have nailed it.

This would be the second death of an actor from The Wire that I'm aware of, the other being the guy who went about with his shotgun tucked away under his duster coat.

I watched The Wire when it was released, his character portrayal was outstanding. A year younger then me, ouch.

Was real sad hearing about this yesterday, that skit he did on the Eric Andre show years ago was hilarious.

I know him from “Fringe” and, more recently, as a voice and motion-capture actor in the “Horizon: Zero Dawn” videogames. His loss to those games, where he was an enigmatic good guy/bad guy who always had more secrets than he was willing to share, will be deeply felt going forward.
