Traveling to Boston for a day or so later this month, and planning to stop by LJ Peretti for tobacco and perhaps a pipe (if I can afford). It's my first time at this store, and I understand they are well regarded. Do you have any suggestions I should try out?

Not knowing what you like, I'm going to point you towards the Peretti Royal and 150th Anniversary Flake tobaccos. You might also check for some Samuel Gawith and Esoterica blends as they were just released. I'd recommend Best Brown Flake and Tilbury, respectively.

I have lived in Boston for my entire life. Great city, not without problems but I frequently find myself taking a moment to appreciate what a beautiful place it is. It is the Athens of America as they say. Not sure that is the " hub of the universe" but do not call it Beantown as you will mark yourself as a non-Bostonian. Perretti is a pipesmokers haven for tobacco. Do not focus on pipes as you can do better for less elsewhere. However, do spend some time looking at their blends. Across the board some of the best ever made. Go on line and read the descriptions. I always recommend royal, tashkent, oriental 40 as well as their great burley blends and Boston's Best Cavendish. Their 432 is their version of a 1Q but much better. If the staff finds that you are genuinely interested they will really help. Otherwise they can be a bit reserved. It is a very small store. Take a walk through the Public Garden very close by and skip the Common...

Gentlemen - Thank you for the advice. Its given me a good place to start. I’ll do a bit of research before travelling and follow your recommendations. I look forwards to my visit, and visiting BOS is always a treat. I’ll be lodged around the area so the store is within walking distance. I Usually take the family to see the Pops, but not this yr due to Covid.
