I just bought me a sweet coolidor that will hold my temperature where I need it for a long time. (55 degrees). I’m cellaring my tobacco in mason jars. My question is will humidity go through the jars if I set the coolidor to 58 percent humidity? Or should I just vacuum seal these jars? I plan on cellaring these for years and want this to be perfect when I open these 5 years down the road. Any advice?

I do put a little vacuum on my canning jars to secure the lid, vacuum them heavy when cellaring aromatics.

Some jars I just screw the lid on.

99% of the tobacco i cellar is just put in a jar or a bag and sealed. I push out the air on the Mylar bags.

They will be good usually for decades unless you get a mold infestation. The aerobic microbes will slowly consume the oxygen in the jars effectively sealing them. You'll even get that classic whoosh sound when you open them.
So you want the aerobic microbes and the whoosh sound? I guess I’ll just place in mason jar then leave in my coolidor at 55 degrees. Should I humidify my coolidor though?

Sorry to bring this thread back up but didn’t feel a new one was called for just for my question. And the topics discussed in this thread seem relevant.
So…. When cellaring in mason jars, does anyone ever throw in a boveda terpene shield packet? I get that the jar is air tight if properly secured but maybe using just as a precaution?
