I seem to be struggling with keeping Odyssey lit. I pack it like normal with the three step process...any suggestions on what else I might try?

Smoke it and enjoy it. If you need to relight, WTF, so relight. It's a great smoke if you like latakia. Eventually it stays lit and smokes to the bottom of the bowl.

I have to relight like every puff it seems is my issue...I have no problem with the occasional relight...but I am perplexed on this one

Heat It craft tool. Warm and gentle so tobacco doesn't blow all over the place. 10 sec.s will do in most cases.

There's a school of thought claiming that improper packing, with respect to any particular blend, will cause such problems.

I have some difficulties with different tobaccos as well.

This is just something that I learned when practicing for a slow smoke competition.

Keep the tamper in close proximity to the ember and tamp lightly while you puff, and concentrate. Just don't let it get too hot, and go slow. You can sustain the ember a long time, even with the most stubborn of blends.

I let it sit out for about 30 minutes and it seemed to smoke fine with only a short fit of going out...just need patience I guess

Yeah I used to have the same problem when I first started smoking. Then I learned to let certain tobaccos dry out for a period of time before smoking. Some have so much propylene glycol on them that they never dry out. I tend to stay away from those.

The key to a long smoke with Odyssey for me has been a slow sipping technique and a tamper. You too will get the technique and enjoy the long slow smoke. Use a large bowl for this blend and take your time. It's a smoke that requires time and relaxation. Try it late in the evening when you are alone and before you hit the sack. It needs attention.
