One of my classmates said he was flying out for KC immediately after class. But he was going to watch a baseball game instead. A serious lack of priorities in my opinion.

I just got back, the show was great. Looked all over for Kevin with no success but everything else was excellent. I showed remarkable self-control and only bought one pipe and 3 tins of tobacco.
Scored a great T-shirt from the wonderful folks at SP and got some samples from Russ at P&C. I had the chance to talk at length with Mike MacNeil from McC. I went there to try and talk him into selling some of the tins-only blends in bulk. I was prepared to beg, plead, cry, whine and roll on the floor. No luck. "Never have and never will!" He did have good news for those who have tried and enjoyed the new Blue Mountain blend, he's already working on the next batch so hopefully there won't be a shortage.

I was looking forward to talking, there's always next year. What did you think of the 7 Day Set from the Carver's Contest? I needed a handful of paper towels to clean the drool off of my shoes. Too bad they wouldn't allow pictures, those are some awesome pipes! Several people said that the winner of last year's raffle had turned down offers of $10,000 (still unsmoked). I don't know if that's fact or fiction, but last year's theme was volcanoes, one of my favorite shapes, and those were some of the most incredible examples I've ever seen.
I'm sitting here tightly clutching my raffle ticket, mumbling prayers and incantations to the Pipe Gods.
