I like the Sutliff Navigator so I thought that the Spinnaker might be a good smoke. Boy was I wrong. It was ssoooo cherry I didn't even take it out of the can. You know that fake almond smell that is like cherry? Well that was this stuff times 10. Now maybe it got mixed up with the cherry blends that they have but I for one just could not smoke this.

You're dissing a blend without smoking it?
Pop that bad boy in a cob. If you can't stand the first puff. Dump it out.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, cherry tobacco is the White Zinfandel of the tobacco world.
Generalization? Sure. Snobbery? Perhaps. But apt nonetheless.

I immediately thought of the Theodorus Niemeyer blend, Spinnaker, that I smoked a million years ago. I guess everyone has to do the cherry blend thing once or twice. CAO's Cherry Bomb is fairly decent but I don't go for the fruity stuff very often.

Get some latakia and blend it in or even 1Q to tame it. Sounds like you can't hurt it any.

Just got a sample of this in the mail from a friend. GAH! I'm almost afraid to put it into my mish-mash all things cherry blend, afraid it will ruin it. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much flavorings and casings for me! I'm sure it has its fans, but I'm not among them.
Still, a bad smoke is better than no smoke at all. :puffy:

I like cherry. What works best for me is putting all the diff cherry blends together in one jar. It's good that way. But any one single blend on its own? There's only been one I've liked much. But all of them in the jar work really well together.
But I am also not a huge aro fan, so I don't have that perspective. Although I have now found 4 or 5 I occasionally enjoy, but only one I really really like.
The aro on this one really knocks you off your feet. I could smell it through the plastic bag and thickly padded envelope in which it arrived.
It's just one of those "Wow...that's cherry/almond!" moments. Really gooped up my bowl, too. But yes, it definitely works for some people, else Sutliff et al would've stopped making it a long time ago.
