Interesting... I've been a piper for nearly 50 years. Smoked a lot of burleys in the 60s & 70s (other stuff too, just not at work, but that's another story), mostly SWR, PA, and Edgeworth, sometimes Half N Half. Found English/Balkans in the early 80s & never went back. Never tried CH until 4 months ago. For some reason the packaging always spoke "flavored, aromatic" to me, something I gave up very early. I have enjoyed My Own Blend off and on, so last November decided to revisit Burleys. I picked up some Bald Headed Teacher from 4Noggins, and happened to see an oblique comparison to CH. Decided to give it a try, despite the embedded emotional memory. Found it to be quite enjoyable, and at a considerable price point advantage to the craft blends. It now has a regular place in the pickup console, ready for a spontaneous trip to the range or the river. It's a comforting smoke, but doesn't carry the "je ne said quois" of the Latikia, Perique, & Orientals in the English blends. But it's good in it's own way.
