It's really interesting how a lot of influences at the Vegas Show have changed what I'm doing on pipes. This was kind of interesting- the first time trying a stem with pink ivorywood..Thought it turned out kinda nice...

The pipe and stem are beautiful. Not crazy about the beige, for me, it needs to be darker than the wood, a color transition to the black stem, but I didn't make it, and I couldn't make it. The shape of the stem/ferrule is great. And the pipe is a favorite shape for me. Is it flat on the bottom?

Woodsroad, yep- just enough flat to sit. The pink ivory is a really subtle color- incredibly hard, turns like glass. I'm enjoying the inlayed stems mainly because you can use anything from cocobolo, black & white ebony, or a dozen other variations. Thinking about using a turqouise on the next one....

Thanks Al...That last 1" of the stem has give me more headaches trying to get it right....Finally closing in on where it needs to be...After another 100 stems, it will get easy...

FLMason...That's not the way it works with Greta- Bought her a cute little ladies Group 1 Savinelli during our Italian trip- she won't smoke it- refuses to smoke anything except flake tobacco in my reverse calabash turtle...

The funny thing is when we were smoking pipes at a fund-raiser the other day, there were a half-dozen women and guys who commented how classy it was seeing a woman smoking a pipe...But she don't smoke no damn girly pipes...now if I could only get her to hold one correctly...
(and I may have to think about renaming that particular wood...instead of calling it what it is... "Pink Ivory"...I'll call it "Ivorywood" ... or "Peachy Colored Ivory Wood".....or "Manly Hunk of Ivory Wood"...life is so complicated...I'm going to take my "pipebag"...AKA "manbag" outside and go smoke some Stonehaven...

zack, that is my favorite pipe that you have made so far. As you know like the classics and that Dublin is the closet thing to a classic you have made so far. I think the stem application is very nice, totally a Florida look, the only critique I would make is the cant to the bowl. I am not a big fan of canted bowls but that is just a personal thing, Lovely grain and a great shape. You really nailed that one my friend. I think you should bring it over so we can test drive it. lol
