I was doing some cleaning at work and got some bleach in my eye. I flushed it with water right away and then went to the hospital. I sat there forever, and they gave me some ointment for my eye. Not how I had planned on my night going.

You shouldn't put visine or other eye drops in your eye after you have had chemicals in it. The ointment is because the chemicals can cause small abrasions on your eye.

Ouch, glad you're OK. My dad's an eye specialist. A lady came to the hospital once who'd reached for her eye drops but mistakenly grabbed the superglue. One blink and that was that.
FYI: Olive oil.

It's worth the time and the embarrassment to put on safety glasses.
Glad to hear you're alright, though. Sitting in the hospital is never fun.

Sorry for you Über, I worked in a Chemicl Plant and started my guys to turn on the safety shower any time they were opening up a piece of equipment, if you get sprayed and can"t see you can hear the water running. Take care of them eyes Son.

McDonalds (if you are still there) should have an eyewash kit in their First Aid box. I'm surprised they would allow generic bleach in the store. (usually brands spec their own chemical programs with the appropriate MSDS book).

I hope your eye is feeling better this morning.

I don't work at Mcdonalds anymore, I work at a steak house. They don't have an eye wash station, and neither does Mcdonalds.

I second the motion on the safety glasses. People, myself included, hate to be cautious, and especially

to feel cautious. But usually it's the smart way to go. You'd see the spot of bleach on the glasses and

think, cool, it didn't end up in my eye. Then you feel less like a wuss and more like a fox.

they should be required by law to carry the necessary safety equipment when working with chemicals, Uber. That includes goggles. I'm pretty sure that goes for the food industry as well as any other. I did my time as a fast food employee and manager.

Oh yes, OSHA requires all of these things. If the restaurant has had more than one accident, requiring a trip to the same Emergency room, don't be surprised if OSHA shows up for an inspection. Those kind of accidents trigger a response. My bet is most mom-pop restaurants are OSHA nightmares, but McDonalds knows better. (I have 35 years of fast food experience) Hopefully no permanent harm done in your case.

I am glad you are okay.
As I read this I can't help but understand why there are so many lawyers in this country. Rather than manning up and taking responsibility for our mistakes we prefer that laws be passed and bureaucracies created.

Glad you are ok. Perhaps you should wear a welding mask from now on? Restaurants can be dangerous places. I knew a guy once who accidentally went bobbing for french fries, but that is a whole other story.
