Thanks for the great show. I found it earlier this week on Podbay.fm, which led me to discover this site. I have listened all week while working (I drive). So far up to episode 25.
I have no complaints about the show and I really enjoy your choice and variety of music each week. I also appreciate the fact that you play Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown.
Thanks again for the great show and I wish you the best in all you do.

I really don't get the bashing the show has gotten in these forums. There are many more cigar smokers than pipe smokers and there is nothing even close for cigar smoking, even if some of the shows are entertaining for other reasons (like a bad movie can be entertaining by being so bad or a fat guy in spandex dancing to All The Single Ladies).

I wasn't aware that the show had been bashed in this forum. I do recall a couple of statements by one particular member, but by and large I think most here really like the show (myself included).

I'll admit to some gentle ribbing (such as creating the rules for the Pipes Magazine Radio Show Drinking Game) but I hope my comments were never construed as "bashing".
I will say that Brian seemed to go off during his latest Rant on the listener who criticized his interviewing techniques. I think we all know who this listener is, and I don't know if it was in response to the question or to recent events here in the Forum, but Brian's reaction seemed a bit excessive. It was a slightly uncomfortable end to an otherwise enjoyable show.

I think that on balance, Brian does a pretty good job. The faults I find with the show are small, such as the intro and rant music, but I suspect Brian doesn't much give a shit what I think about that. I also think he plays up the "leading expert in [his] own opinion" deal, but that's his schtick and whatever. It's a nice show with good interviews and regular segments.

We're good. One of the challenges of online communication is interpreting meanings correctly.
A few months back, there were some comments you made which Brian asked me about.
Since I've had the pleasure of meeting you and hanging out with you a couple of times at the Chicago pipe show, plus having some experience reading your posts here, it was easy for me to know that your comments were just playful teasing. Yes, it was a critique, but there was some gentle ribbing as well, and I easily detected the intended humor because I know you.
@trailboss

Kevin does a great job interviewing.
It's actually Brian Levine that hosts the show. I'm the Producer and occasional co-writer.

Not sure what I wrote a few months back but thanks for smoothing things over with "the Talent", Kevin.

My first post.I am technologically challenged and stumbling myopically around the website- and yet already have been mentioned on the Pipes Magazine Radio Show! Tell Brian my user name is pronounced TIE-trait THAT (as in the old joke's punchline, "sew a button on THAT!"

I've actually been listening from almost a year, & have enjoyed all the back episodes via itunes. I just joined the site because of the show. I'd commented elsewhere that for me, the show IS my pipe club. I don't have a criticism, just an observation. At times I think it would be a nice change if Brian would share of his own pipe story ( how he got into it...why....etc). On several occasions, he's said that he doesn't want to get into tobacco reviews because his tastes are somewhat particular & I respect that honesty. But just like all the other great hosts in media, the audience likes the guests to shine, but the host is their guide & friend.
My thoughts, on which, I am the leading expert.
Thanks guys
