I love Greek and Roman mythologies.
how could you not. Though I'll never trust a swan after hearing about them and what they do. It's always interesting to think that to the people who lived then these things were not myths but believes and real explanations of the world and how it works. I love how petty and full of human style foibles they are. But not only are they great and rich stories, they show how people looked at the world and how they explained their experiences.
One thing I find really interesting about Pagan polytheistic religions is just the way that while there is an overarching morality and system that different lives and different jobs fall under different divinities. Which is interesting to think about that. A codified and tacit admission that the rules change for different tasks and lives. Which is interesting to think about. And also to me one thing that makes sense about it is this world does seem designed by committee sometimes. The idea that scorpions and ducks were from the same designer is hard to wrap ones head around.
Now if we could just figure out what went on in the Elysium Mysteries, we could figure out a lot about how we got to the point we're at now ;).
