I was perusing Ebay for a Brian Ruthenberg to add to my collection and came across a really nice straight billiard that is a smallish group 5. It had a make an offer option and after a bit of haggling, I finally got the price that I thought was a very good deal. The pipe looks to be in excellent condition and this will make my 5th Ruthenberg in my collection. I love how his pipes smoke and have been very pleased with the other 4 I have purchased. I consider the blast as a decent one, not the best of my collection but certainly respectable to my eye. I know it will smoke great so again looks is secondary in this case, as I will always put smoking properties above the looks of a pipe. So here is my latest.

I love my Ruthenberg Harris, that chain sets it off nicely, may it give you many great smokes.

I'm certainly not an expert on blasts but I know enough to tell you that is a great looking pipe. Love the woven band. Enjoy. :puffy:

A ring grain blast has always been my favorite even if it's not deep and craggy. This one is beautiful. You've a good eye. It would be a great addition to any collection. Enjoy

Thanks for the nice comments guys. The more I look at the pictures the more I can see a pretty good blast. When I first looked at it I thought it was just average. I am sure it will be even nicer than in person. I really love how Brian's pipes smoke, he uses a shank dimension that I would guess to be around 4.3-4.5 mm and his pipes really smoke themselves. I also love his stem work, he uses top of the line Vulcanite as they rarely need Obidisian to keep them spotless.
Spencer, I have that Ruthenberg in my watch list already and might just go after it. It is the perfect size and weight for my flakes and I am sure it is a great smoker.
peck, I have already bought 3 pipes and am trying 2 new blends of tobacco. It is amazing how the minute I come back here, my PAD and TAD begins to rage. This site is just full of enablers, it is all your guys fault.
