Another square bowl, why? I really don't know probably simply i like squares. Shank is oval but vertical so it's very thin.As the pipe is more than medium size, probably big also for american taste, whould be difficult to keep it between the teeth, much better keep it into a hand.Briar come from calabria and i like it.Stem is hand-cut due to the shape of shank.Stain is obtained mixing orange and yellow alcol aniline then buffed with carnauba.Nowadays i'm going to carve some standard shape, because frequently i forget that a pipe is carved to be smoked :)

Nice pipe, you really do have great luck with the grain on all your pipes. Not to take away from your great eye.
I would like to see more "creative" carvings though. A Pipe doesn't have to be shaped like a pipe, it just has to SMOKE like a pipe. :puffy:

Nice work-again! I like square/paneled pipes. I've been working on one that is octagonal from stem to stern. Wish my briar was as good as yours!

There are several briar seller in Italy. You can find any type of ebauchons or pre-drilled kit, in this case you can't usually make long or big pipes and shape is partially decided by domebody else.Briar on the market is second or third choice becuase the best is bought by the celebrated pipemakers all around the world, but some seller can ship also first quality...........few sellers at all

"very nice grain on that pipe"
I bought many plateau from calabria these days and all seems to have a quality like that, i whould recommemd to try to find Calabrian briar and not the pre-drilled ebauchons availables on internet if you want to carve a great pipe
