Just thought I would say "Hello" to the other fine members of this group. I am a retired Navy Master Chief who recently qualified for Social Security. So I guess now you would really call me "Retired". I have been smoking a pipe now for over 40 years. I have lost count of the number of countries I have bought pipes and tobacco in over the years. I have some really amazing and sometimes hilarious stories to tell regarding how smoking a pipe affected my career. Pipe smoking has also been a great "ice breaker" many times when I was faced with a foreign culture. At last count (My wife actually went around and counted them) I own 172 pipes. The only problem with owning that many of them is which four do I smoke today (plus trying to keep track of and store them so my wife will stop threatening to throw them all out). I no longer feel alone and like a second class citizen due to finding this site.

I'm an Army dude, but I happen to know from experience, that nothing is cooler than smoking a pipe in a pea coat on the aft deck of a ship at 30 knots. I'd reccommend a wind screen, though. I just used my hand as a screen.
I bet you have some great stories, Master Chief! Feel free to share!
This site represents a subculture of pipe lovers and tobacco connosieurs of which I am proud to be a part! They turned me fromm a greenhorn pipe smoker to an educated greenhorn pipe smoker!
