A modest question: What kind of pipe did JRR Tolkien smoke? A Dunhill?

Had a Ruby Bark billiard, drilling was off. Traded it for three tins of Mephisto, and have been strictly artisan ever since. Ten Dunhills couldn't separate me from one of my Weavers.

Chasing, thanks bunches both for the info and the link to the article about Tokien's pipe smoking. Shaintiques, like you, Tolkien operated a campaign to provide free pipes to soldiers during WW I. You follow a noble lineage!

Have been watching some documentaries on YouTube about Tolkien's writing and history. Fascinating stuff, and actually to hear the man recount things is awe inspiring!

Sparrow- I believe it was Alfred Dunhill who operated the campaign. Tolkien may have been a recipient of one of the campaign pipes........ :puffy:
