Last Saturday the wife and I went to see Johnny Mathis. What a treat that was. Heard him as kid in the 50's and he hasn't changed much. He is 78, dyes his hair jet black, walks with a bit of a shuffle, and bends over a little bit. The voice no longer has the great range of his youth but it is still magnificent. The show was 2+ hours long. He took about a 30 minute break in the middle.
The guy has such a large repertoire that he had to do a bunch of them in an abbreviated version. He is so pleasant to listen to. You have to realize how good he must have been to start his career as rock-n-roll was exploding and was still able to carve out a substantial career with his love songs and ballads. He has sold over 350 million records.
