Thanks to Cigmaster. Harris for the heads up on this pipe, it is a large pipe bigger than an ODA Dunhill, it is a beauty. The old cajun

Sweet piece of Briar. Like the backdrop too. We named our son Jameson. My wife and I toured the Jameson distillery in Dublin and she was chosen as the "official taster" from our tour group. I had to pour her into a taxi to get her back to the hotel. We still haven't told my son that we named him after booze.

That is a good looking pipe Brad! I was hoping you would post a picture of it. John Eells was mentioned in a recent PM Radio show and was one of the early members of the Richmond Pipe Club. As a pipemaker, he was known for his OD size pipes. I met him at the last show (before I knew who he was) and had some fun bargaining over some GBD estate pipes. He was a tough negotiator, but I came away with one GBD which was a gift for my daughters fiance. I also bought an Ashton bulldog that John made with Donald Taylor at the Ashton shop in 2000. It is stamped XXX but is really an LX size. It had an oddly diminutive size bowl for the rest of the pipe and I didn't like the way it smoked. I had George Dibos redrill the bowl to a suitable diameter (22 mm) and that transformed the pipe into a great smoker.

Bradley, I am glad you like it. When I saw it I knew it had your name on it. How does it smoke in comparison to your best pipes? Should I still be on the lookout for one in my size range?

Sounds like it was pretty dirty and will take half a dozen bowls or so. How about the cooling aspect, was it cool to the touch after smoking?

No, smoked hotter than I thought it should, temp went up to 155, not bad, but the Ardors or the Moreittis did not do that, that being said I believe it will be a good pipe, I usually smoke carter Hall after retort so this time I smoked some Wessex Gold Brick I had prepared the day before, that being said maybe it was the tobbaco not the pipe? We"ll see, you will be pleased to know Dave Neeb is holding a Rad Davis bent apple for me, I"m getting tired of hearing Rad,Rad,Rad. LOL. The old cajun :laughat:
