My good friend John Eells has made a pipe that is currently on eBay, with 100% of the proceeds going to Rolando Negoita. As many of you know, Rolando is dealing with a serious health concern. There have been several fundraisers to help him and his family and this is another.
John Eells hasn't made too many pipes the past couple of years, so this is quite a rare pipe. For those who don't know, John is among the best pipemakers in the world. So if you are a fan of John's pipes or just curious, take a look at the auction below, and bid often. And you'll be helping one of our own in the process.

That is gorgeous! I met John Eells at my first pipe show, a CORPS event in Richmond. I had no clue as to who he was. He had some unrestored vintage British pipes (a jumble of pipes in a box). I tried negotiating with him and he was pretty challenging! I ended up buying a few GBD's from him and a large Ashton bulldog that he made along with Bill Taylor, during a visit to England. Later, I learned who he was and his reputation in the pipe community. (Rich E mentions John in his current column of The Pipe Collector) I'm hoping he will be at the upcoming Richmond show again.
That pipe should do well and it is a noble gesture from John.

Al, I think you've talked about that pipe before, but I don't remember hearing that story. Hilarious! (Not that I would have known who he was, either, certainly not by sight.)
That's a great looking pipe - and two stems! A very generous donation.

Nice to see you Mr. Ellis. Very nice work, too!

Prayers for your friend's improvement.
