As Newby I feel like I have learned a lot. Still need to try the LatPer blends like Plum Pudding or Quiet Nights but I will get there soon enough. I have several favorites to enjoy.

However as I research I see this Sir Johns Virginia on several favorite lists and with an almost perfect 3.9 stars on TR. Thus I have been monitoring its availability on all the websites and it is always always sold out. Always.

Tobacco Reviews indicates it is still available so I assume it’s just like getting tickets to The Masters. Even if you can afford it you must be on the list and know somebody that knows somebody.

I have a few tins of it that I haven't yet tried. John Aylesbury availablity has always ebbed and flowed. For a long time it was almost impossible to find Luxury Flake, much less Sir John's, so there's nothing new about it being difficult to find. Making connections with B&Ms increases you chances of finding hard to find blends.

Never tried any of them, I’ve always felt they were probably some other flake I already smoke, packaged under a different name (think McConnell’s Latakia Flake & Sillem’s Commodore Flake). It may or may not be true but just never felt swayed to hunt their flakes down.

I don't believe that is the case. classic and Stir John's Flake are both unique and quite good.

I’m sure your right, it’s probably just a story I tell myself so I don’t get the urge to get started on a new blend that I’ll probably end up liking, thus needing more. If I walked into a store tomorrow and they had their blends on the shelf, I’d probably end up buying them.

Understood. I really like both and keep decent inventory of both but I also can't say the blends are "must haves". Sir Johns reminds me a bit of Capstan Gold, Classic Flake reminds me a bit of CVP.

I tried the Sir Johns after I began smoking their Luxury Flake. For my tastes the Luxury flake was superior and one of my favorites. I loaded up when it was sporadic inventory wise. I didn't screw around and ordered 50 at a time as it was so hard to come by. I even got a 10% discount for every 50 tins I got. Even back in 2012 when I bought most of mine it was a bitch to get. I never understood why as it wasn't talked about that much.
