Just got my last, spontaneous PAD maneuver in for the year.
I'm not finding much info on this Jobey.
It seems the company has been around for some time but details are elusive.

This may help a bit. I love Weber pipes.

On the other hand, I help you more:

The Weber link above appears to be a lot of white space:

So, I read some grumbling about the "Jobey link" system. Should I expect that design feature in the Weber produced pipe?
If so, what's your opinion on it?
Thanks.

I try not to speak ill of certain pipes (or pipe manufacturers), because, often, issues can be chalked up to 'user error;' however, with that being said, I own a Jobey Sunburst 110 with the 'link...' and I hate that pipe. I got it as an easy, portable option, but it's a horrible smoker. I've thoroughly 'broken' it in, and have wasted entirely too much time trying to get it to smoke somewhat decent, to no avail. And like some amnesia patient, I'll grab it off the rack, from time to time, with high hopes that maybe this time it will smoke a touch drier than a drowned rat, crammed into a Samuel Gawith tin, and left to fester under a sopping brick of moldy news paper.
I can only attest to my personal loathing of this particular pipe. I hope (and am curious) that yours, sir, is a winner! I've been to frightened to try experimenting further with this brand.
* I'm not to critical of my pipes; out of my humble collection, there are only 2 out of 75(ish) that I find 'unsmokable;' the Jobey just happens to be one.

I wish I knew if it was the links fault. I have no idea (nor do the boys at the local B&M) what causes the excess moisture build-up... the link has been the 'popular' wild guess; but in reality, who knows? That is why I'm curious as to how yours smokes during the break-in period. Fingers-crossed that mine is just a fluke.
Best of luck, sir!

I guess I'll start it out with a tinder dry D&R blend and try to keep you posted on the performance.
To be honest, it will go into the reserve pipe pile until I feel inspired to get to it. I'm getting quite a little pile of funky NOS relics accumulated. Not sure what I'm saving them for. Maybe my inner hoarder is responsible...

I just watched this video that may offer the two of us some hope. A little history and promise of easily opening it up a bit:

I have 6 Jobey pipes, 2 Shellmoors, 1 Stromboli, 1 Asti, 1 Unicorn (inherited from my grandfather and restored) and 1 Jobey Band.

The only one that I don't smoke regularly is the the Band, mostly because the chamber size is bigger than I normally prefer.

I have no problem with the Jobey link system and they are all pretty good smokers.

Yours looks like a winner, good luck with it.

Thanks for the offer of hope, Mark.
Are yours all stock, of did you open any of them up?
How do you find the draw on them?

Jaytex, yes mine are all stock with the exception of one, I never had a problem with the draw on any of them.

I will stand corrected on the Jobey Unicorn, it doesn't have the link in it, it's a push fit stem and I did have the stem replaced by georged (who did an excellent job by the way), because my grandfather had chewed plum through it.

the link allows me to take the pipe apart while it's still warm from smoking it and run a pipe cleaner through it.

This is very convenient in case you happen to pack to firmly or get a piece of tobacco stuck in the airway and have to clear it with a pipe cleaner.

When your stem gets out of alignment, just rotate it clockwise to re-align, no problem, and you can't over-tighten it.
