The lightly stoved bright and orange Virginias provide an abundance of tart and tangy citrus, grass, bread, sugar, sour lemon, mild vegetation, spice, light darker fruit, earth, and wood with a touch of acidity. The stoving accounts for a very mild stewed fruit quality. Listing the variety of casings in the order noticed are blackberry, pineapple rum, raisins, sugar, maple, molasses, and a hint of vinegar. They have a little more than a moderate effect on the varietals without drowning them out, and slightly weaken after the half way point. Even though there is no burley in this blend, there is a very small, inexplicit sense of it that I believe comes from a mix of some of the casings. The strength is a step past the medium threshold. The taste is just short the center of medium to full. The nic-hit is medium. There’s no chance of bite or harshness. Has a few small rough notes. The mildly moist flakes easily break apart, and need no dry time. Well balanced and deeply rich with some complexity, it burns cool, clean and slow with a mostly consistent sweet, fruity, floral, mildly spicy, zesty, sour flavor that extends to the pleasantly lingering after taste. The room note is pleasant. Barely leaves any dampness in the bowl, and requires a couple more than an average number of relights. Not quite an all day smoke for the veteran aro smoker, and is repeatable under any circumstance. Four stars out of four.
