Anyone else like to play one of these twangy little things? They're the only instrument I can operate with any illusion of proficiency, despite my (admittedly meager) efforts with my banjo.

I used to use one of those to bring a little "jug band" sound to pickup jam sessions when I was a kid. Fun stuff.

Death metal sounds awesome played on a juice harp. Really makes those chromatic progressions pop.

Playing one of those ought to go well with sitting barefoot on the front porch in overalls, with a jug of moonshine, a double-barelled shotgun...and smoking a corncob pipe.

As much as I love my good ol' Red Wing boots I tend to go barefoot, even when I'm welding. (Benefit of being the dumb-ass foreman in a one-man shop.)

Don't have overalls, but I do have coveralls. Cozy!

Love me a spot of moonshine. Or two spots. You know what, just leave the jar.

No shotgun... Hmmm... Does my glass torch count? Shoots big balls of fire!

I do enjoy a nice little cob.
Nail almost on the head, mate.

Wow, never seen it before, had to google it to see how you play it.
These are things that dentists and orthodontists should hand out at all kiddie events... to drum up more business. :puffy:
Like clay pipes?

When I was kid in Italy, we all played those. I'm sure I still have one somewhere. In fact, the mouth harp is the bedrock of traditional Italian music in some regions. I suspect the instruments origin is much deeper than folks may think.
In Italy they have moonshine too but it's called grappa.

I'm a harmonica player but can'd play the blues -- but do American song book, folks songs, a few classical, one or two Beatles, etc. I struggle with the recorder. I can sometimes get rolling with the slide whistle accompanying string band recordings. Still working on figuring out the valves on a coronet; should have taken that instead of violin, but my family owned the violin. Got out of violin lessons when I failed as a circus acrobat in the back yard and broke my wrist.

Talk about overalls and moonshine reminds me of my favorite instrument. The noble cardboard mailing tube. If you have played a trumpet or other brass it is easy. Punch a hole in the metal in one side and insert trumpet mouthpiece. Empty other side. A small one is a soprano. If you can get a 9 footer, it is a bass.

Jaw harp ... makes the tip of my front teeth hurt just looking at them.
I always picture Snoopy playing the thing when I hear them anymore.
