Bought a jeantet a few weeks ago cleaned it up and started to smoke it. The type i got was a sherlok homes style pipe and of course an estate pipe.First think i noticed was the thickness of the briar around the bowl and the stem. Not a big pipe but quiet heavy for its size.It comes with a built in filter. But that wasnt a problem i loaded it up with st bruno and it smoked well over 50 minutes with plenty left in the bowl.It got no hotter than the average pipe and later i noticed some wetness in the bowl but nothing that important.I Had a beautiful smoke and without doubt one of my favorite pipes already.I did some checking and found theres nothing much on this pipe at all.I did manage to find out its now part of the chacom company.I wondered if anyone else has experience with this pipe company for what i paid it smokes like a dream and i just wanted to light it up again.I Carnt post pictures because i havent learnt this yet.But i want to buy more of these pipes i think very underated.A strong good long lasting pipe. With a long lasting smoke

I've never owned one, but as a Chacom second I would imagine it's pretty solid.
You mentioned it's a "Sherlock Holmes" style... does that mean it's a calabash?

As a pioneer calabash owner I can tell you only a gourd calabash is a true calabash. Others just look like a calabash. But its good you found an awsome smoker. That's the hardest thing to do sometimes. :puffpipe:

If you get a free photobucket account, it will give you links you can copy and paste to share pix. I either use the image tool in the forum post or paste the img link directly and it works.

Calabash
Calabash pipe with meerschaum bowl.Calabash gourds (usually with meerschaum or porcelain bowls set inside them) have long made prized pipes, but they are labour-intensive and today quite expensive. Because of this expense, pipes with bodies made of wood (usually mahogany) instead of gourd, but with the same classic shape, are sold as calabashes. Both wood and gourd pipes are functionally the same. They consist of a downward curve that ends with an upcurve where the bowl sits. Beneath the bowl is an air chamber which serves to cool, dry, and mellow the smoke. There are also briar pipes being sold as calabashes. These typically do not have an air chamber and are named only because of their external shape.
A calabash pipe is rather large and easy to recognize as a pipe when used on a stage in dramatic productions. Early portrayers of the character Sherlock Holmes, particularly William Gillette and Basil Rathbone, took advantage of this fact when it was required to portray Holmes smoking. This is why Holmes is stereotypically depicted as favouring a calabash. In fact, most stories, particularly The Adventure of the Copper Beeches, described him as preferring a long-stemmed cherry-wood or a clay pipe.

The calabash name is for the gourd that was use to creat the pipe. The calabash gourd please see

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calabash
you would want to say its a calabash "style" of pipe.

I've seen the Jeantet pipes pop up on the Dutch smokers forum and the Belgian "craigslist" on occasion. Here's one for instance

From what I've heard they seem to be good smokers, at least the older ones. I don't have one, so can't speak for it.
There are many older and smaller European pipe makers that have been bought and consolidated into the larger companies, especially over the last 25 years. Sometimes with good results, sometimes not so good. I can't say which category your Jeantet falls in or how old it may be, but looks like you got a good smoker on your hands anyway :puffy:
Good luck though.. looking forward to the pics.
