Max and I saw it a couple of days ago. After seeing what Zack Snyder, talentless hack that he is, did with the DC Universe, it's great to see a DC film uncontaminated with phony operatic pathos and shallow profundity. This film is very much a comic book of a motion picture and the better for it. The film is a romp.

Max would have liked some more breaks in the action, which is fairly constant, to allow for more character development. I was less concerned about that. Curious, because we're usually on the opposite side of that argument.

The VFX are impressive, seamless, and designed to underline story points.

Overall, it's one of the best entertainments I've enjoyed in a long time.

It's amazing to see so many people upset that Superman is actually NICE in this movie. What kind of real world villain do you have to be to hate a super hero doing good deeds?
They need conflict. For it to be a story. They just don't get the fact that supermans conflict is his ethics and morality and kindness in a body that could easily wreck everything and everyone. Or at least that's my opinion on the way the character has been handled stupidly and poorly.

Thank you so much. I've been waiting to read someone else have that opinion of that hack. Though frankly he'd be better as a hack then what he really is which is a wanker with an over developed sense of his own story telling abilities. Every time I've seen one of his movies... I've thought this would have been better if they just grabbed a kid off the street and forced them to direct the movie.
Just in case you're wondering not a fan of his.
Now James.... Liked him from his early stuff till now.

Maybe it's me, but I watch movies now to feel good. I don't always want something 'gritty' and tense, I already experience the gritty and tense in my profession. And maybe I do want an idealized version of reality that is beautiful and caring, warm and predictable with clear good guys and bad guys. Where the good overcomes the evil. My personal view is that a beautiful and warm world where good triumphs isn't idealized, it's the reality I experience as a Christian, and one I see often on the local level. Like I said, my profession sees a lot of depravity, but when I return home at the end of the day and my kids are waiting in the driveway with hugs, and I light a pipe after dinner, it's a good day's work.

I'm glad many of you who've seen the movie enjoy it. I look forward to catching it.
