What is your opinion on Jacono pipes?

Been curious about them for a while.
Looks like good smokers.
How is the drilling and overall quality?

This pipe is a wonderful smoker.

The stummmels and stems were done in Italy by Tonino Jacono, rusticated and unfinished. They were then sent to the UK, where Bill Taylor sand blasted over the rustication, and did the staining and final finishing. So an international joint venture!

They were sold by McCranie's about 10 years ago.

Back in the late 1990's, I called Trent McCranie at the McCranie's pipe shop in North Carolina and told him that I had really enjoyed the article in Pipes and Tobaccos Magazine regarding McCranie's Pipe Shop and in particular, the story and pipe photos regarding Tonino Jacono. Not only a pipe maker, Jacono ran his own pipe shop in Italy and his family owned a briar mill, allowing him to choose the best wood available for his pipes. I asked Trent to pick out a billiard for me and this is the one I received. I have more Jacono pipes now, and all smoke as well or better than any Castello that I have owned and the mouthpieces are much thinner and more comfortable.
