They generally have them on the sales floor, although that's not really an option if you don't live near Chicago.
I've never smoked it, but I bought a tin of it from them in December. I'm just going to let it age and smoke it when I can appreciate it more.

Very "old school" delivery this morning from Chicago's Iwan Ries--- no tracking info, so the box just showed up in the mailbox; neato paper catalog and some pipe cleaners in a genuine imitation leather pocket protector (swag is not dead).
As you can see, I also got two nice metal tins. After I clean out their contents (for weed killer), I'm going to store some antique nails in one, I also need a sturdy container for spare buttons and collar stays.

Is there a component leaf in Penzance that is limited in production to keep the supply tight? Or is the blender small and unable to supply more? If there is such a demand, why doesn't the market increase production? I'm sure there's an obvious answer, but I always wonder. Even little Manil-Semois managed to get a supply to the U.S. market and sustain it for those who revere single-leaf burley. What's the choke point with Penzance. I'm not sure I want to cultivate a ravenous appetite for a blend I often can't buy. (Okay, I'm being an old fuss budget, but it's a fair question.)
The choke point is Germain, the producer. It's a tiny company producing small batch (comparatively) products on ancient equipment. Since everything they make sells, they have no incentive to change anything. They could do something about supply by not taking more new products when they cannot meet demand for their existing ones.
You used to be able to get this stuff with no difficulty. Then Germain had a couple of coughs and the whole pipe world caught a cold.
Thank goodness I don't like Penzance.
Funny ... maybe it's timing, maybe luck. I don't go to Iwan Ries often, but I do stop by there roughly once a month, and nearly every time I go they've got Penzance in the store.
I like the stuff, but the small supply I've got already is more than I'll ever remember to smoke. So, have at it! :
