As a newer smoker I'd better gets lots of tobacco from the elfs. The children always like it when dad takes on something new and they have a fresh supply of things to get him as gifts. Had not noticed the supply concern at this far end of the line, yet.

I haven’t noticed it too much, outside of what I see here. I am thinking it is just a matter of the tobacco companies either make more production runs or acquire more tobacco to begin with. Some, like Gawith can’t expand because of the equipment being used. But there are others, I would think, that could expand one way or another.

Manufacturers are pulling ads because they're sold out?! Ironic that this e-zine is a victim of it's own success. But I'm convinced that the advertising and forums gossip here has really pumped-up their volume sales. You may have to change your sales strategy: say, from monthly or quarterly to yearly... or whatever applies. I know that I, for one, have purchased several numerous brands because of the advertising, Bob's and your reviews, and the online chatter.
See my comment with the article for my slant on the cause of the hording shortage.

My wild guess is that suppliers have grossly underestimated the recent upsurge in pipe smoking. With huge increases in taxes of cigarettes and cigarette tobaccos I see a lot of people turning to pipe smoking.

What ever the reason, I just placed an order with smokingpipes and 80% of it was Mac Baren. Yeah, I guess in this case I'm one of those that runs to the store for milk & bread every time there's a ice/snow warning.

I wonder how much some of the increased buying has to do with internet rumors and smoking forum participation. Some of the posts I’ve seen almost approach a hoarding style of purchaseing as a hedge against future shortages, there by feeding the stock shortages and making the cycle even more pronounced.
I saw the same thing in the firearms industry after the 2008 election, ammunition and other items dissappeared off store shelves as a result of fears that the political winds were goings to shift.

I think at least some of it is hoarding but I am buying more based of the advertising and the reviews by bob and the members here

If I did this, I'd be buying milk and bread everyday for damn near 4 months of the year... LOL!
