Our local B&M is holding an event on Saturday. C&D has kindly donated a variety of their new blends for us to try and we'll be pairing them with single malt scotches. There will be a host if pipe veterans and newbies sharing the most contemplative of hobbies.

I'm planning on stopping in at the B&M today because I lost my pipe tool (again) I'll ask if they're doing anything then.

I like the part in the article:

“You never hear anyone say, ‘Oh that tobacco pipe stinks’ when they smell it,” Thomsen noted.
Clearly he's never had a wife smell a latakia heavy blend! "What is that you're smoking? Dog turds?"

Just got back from the B&M and, man, do we have a Saturday afternoon coming. The samples from C&D arrived and there's some tasty stuff to be had. I tried the new chocolate and latakia blend and found that I liked it. Big surprise for me. Jack Knife Plug is on hand and Founding Fathers, which I have not tried yet but am looking forward to. Its cased with pomegranit?

Should be a hoot and a half.

Thomsen, whose shop offers more than 100 tobacco blends, including 40 personal blends developed onsite, said pipe tobacco isn’t inhaled and can be enjoyed with a drink and a few friends at the end of a day.
“That’s when it becomes an event,” he said. “It’s not like smoking a cigarette.”
Good to see he's promoting the thoughtful, genteel nature of our pastime. Kudos

Very nice...too bad they didn't get the date right though...Sunday is the 20th, not the 21st.
