Given my current preference for smoking only pipes with large chambers, I only buy pipes with that. Have long had the Peterson "Watson" only in the Kinsale version. Love the look of the pipe but it's terribly shallow-more typical of a smaller Rhodesian. Kept looking at the dimensions of the Watson on SP and would have thought it should be a large chambered pipe. Wanted a large chamber Watson, so took the plunge, worried that I'd find it wasn't any deeper than my Kinsale version. Came today and much to my relief it is a large chamber fitting in with my preference. So, seems they may have drilled Kinsales much more shallow when I'd bought mine. My Kinsale Hopkins and Hansom are also rather small chambers and, in the case of the Hopkins, also shallow. Wonder about actual chamber sizes in the SH versions now compared to those.

I have both the Kinsale and SH Baker Street and they're both quite large in the chamber. I also have a SH Watson and it's quite a large pipe, I wonder why it's different than the Kinsale version? The Watson, to me, always seemed like a decent sized pipe.

SH lines are all XL pipes. The model numbers are different, and they are indeed good size pipes. I think smaller one are Baker Street and Baskerville. But they are also big enough for a good lengthy smoke.

I have 4 Kinsales with the fourth being the XL23 "Lestrade." Have never held the SH version of it, but have to think it's bowl capacity would be fairly similar to this Kinsale. Was just surprised how different the chamber sizes of my Kinsale and SH Watsons are. Of course bought the XL23 some 5 years after the other 3. So, maybe even within the Kinsale line there were differences over time.
