Capitalized important words in title. Rule 9

Hi All,

I love Rattray's Macbeth tobacco, it's a blend that doesn't seem to have much in the terms of flavoring (which I like). It says it is a mix of burley and Virginia, but my guess is it must be light on the Virginia as it packs a punch (at least when I inhale it).

I found myself in some fairly stressful situations at the end of the summer and one day reverted to my old Cigarette habit of inhaling. To my surprise, I found that this particular blend not to hurt my lungs as much as I thought it would. I really didn't like going back to inhaling to be honest, however I have been teaching online overnight (my school is located halfway around the world) and this was the only thing that helped me to stay awake that late. My lungs don't hurt too much when I use this blend. I have also had some success with some of the Drucquer and Sons blends (the lighter blends that have less Latakia).

Of course, full disclosure, I used to smoke unfiltered camels for the taste, so perhaps my lungs are permanently encrusted and or burnt out already...

I am wondering if anyone has some suggestions regarding other blends that are good for inhaling. I don't really like heavily flavored varieties to begin with. I also prefer to smoke out of my pipes 3-4 times a day rather than going back to smoking cigarettes throughout the day (if that makes sense). I would also add I am looking for blends with no additives. For example, I started with half and half, and while it is very tasty, I swear they put something into it that makes it more addictive as they do with cigarettes. I literally felt compelled to smoke it as I did later with cigarettes. However, I can put my pipe down, and while it is uncomfortable I can go without it for much of the day or the whole day if I must.

Thank you!

D&R Three Sails might be a good one. Nice, light, easy going VA with a mild but pleasant flavor. I pack it a bit more firm than some others, and it stays cool, and smokes well. I personally don't inhale much when pipe smoking, but this 1 might be a good 1 for you, and is priced right by the lb.

D&R, thanks I will check that out! I used to use that for RYO products, wasn't sure if they have lots of additives or not, I can't remember as it has been awhile.

Since you mentioned Camels, what about D&R Ramback? That was their take on the Turkish blend for Camel smokers. Also, Stokkebye Turkish Export, or whatever the name of the pipe cut is called (PS84, I believe).

It seems most Burley blends have some sort of casing or topping, so I don't know if those are additives you're trying to avoid. Some of the C&D burleys don't taste cased or topped, but hoo boy, I suspect inhaling some OJK, Haunted Bookshop or Burley Flakes 1 and 3 would only be pleasant for the crustiest of old salts. If you don't mind a bit of added flavor, the MacBaren HH Burley Flake and Amphora Burley are both extremely pleasant and not too strong.

Ugh. I don't inhale pipe smoke or any other tobacco smoke, except whatever side stream ends up in the ambient air. It's my impression that most pipe smokers don't. I don't recommend it.

I don't mind mild additives, just nothing too intense. Amphora sounds nice I might give that a try!
