...made to look like whatever you want, will never run out of fuel, will never break down, navigates perfectly by just showing it where you want to go, has an endless food and air supply, has perfect artificial gravity, is fully shielded against all forms of harmful-to-humans radiation, and travels at one hundred million miles per hour (which is 260 times faster than the recent Parker probe that "fell" into the sun)

A seriously fun piece of kit, right?

The Star Wars / Star Trek universe at your fingertips at last. You can cruise around admiring and studying whatever grabs your attention...

Except for one thing.

Getting to the nearest star would take 44 years.

One hella-long time to stare out the windshield of your giant Cadillac limo, no matter how good the food is.

I am more amazed by the beauty of earth all the time. It never fails to amaze me. I wouldn't leave it if you pointed a gun at my head... I mean unless you pulled the trigger.

Sci-fi culture has turned Americans into children, when it comes to ideas like outer space.
Amen, brother. I'll die here before fleeing to Mars or the moon. My body was born 100 years too late for my soul.

What the hell are you smokin?

Not even tobacco. (I've had a bad cold the past few days)

The endless dream-fascination with "Humanity Spreading to the Stars" is frustrating to watch, is all.

Take away every constraint---except distance---and it still can't happen.

(Stuff like "folding space" can't even be defined past the "fold a sheet of paper" example.)

Well, maybe we'll at least figure out how to go to the moon someday.

Oh wait, I already saw that on TV when I was 5. Nevermind.

Sunny Cornwall, UK.
Methinks the Parker Probe was a devious plan concocted by Musk & his new pal. The real intention of the probe was to find the most suitable place on the sun to plant the Stars & Stripes, thereby claiming US ownership of the sun.

Once that has been achieved Musk & friend will charge the rest of the world for using their sun on a daily basis with double fees for us Brits
