Before you miss understand the meaning of this post.Let me say that I'm not depressed I live a good life and I'm a very happy person.Getting old is something I don't like to think about but the fact is I'm going on seventy.Maybe I have another twenty years of good pipe smoking life maybe not.Nursing homes are non smoking these days. Here's where I'm going with this. There's no time left for bad pipes or tobacco.I have reduced my number of pipes to fifteen great smokers.I now only buy blends that I'm really sure I will like. How ever many years I have left to smoke pipes I entend to enjoy to the fullest.I thank all of you here for making an old pipe smokers life brighter than it would otherwise be.
*edit*-Moved to Gen. Discussions. -Jason

I'm going to start a Senior Community Center that allows smoking. I may have to come up with something to keep The Man off my back, but I don't see why there can't be smoking sections in places like that. You want to smoke coffin nails? Go ahead! You pay your bills to the home, I'm fine with what ever you do.
If you're getting rid of any "bad" baccy, I have a special procedure that I created that is beneficial to the environment and costs nothing but a few matches.

I'll reserve a place although I'm only in my early 40s. I want the room with a jacuzzi.

I applaud your logic. To quote Warren Zevon (late great musician/composer) "Enjoy every sandwich."

I now only buy blends that I'm really sure I will like.

I wouldn't want to dicsourage anyone from trying new blends. For many that is part of the enjoyment of life. But...

How ever many years I have left to smoke pipes I entend to enjoy to the fullest.

...this is a principle all would do well to live by, at whatever age.

I thank all of you here for making an old pipe smokers life brighter than it would otherwise be.

Thanks to you, too, Puffy.

Absolutely correct Puffy. I love being an "OF". I have tried to model my life to be like Walter Matthau In "Grumpy old men". I smoke what I want, when I want, where I want.
It's my life.

I live it.

I love it.

Criticism be Damned!

Yes, all you guys just send all your discarded/unwanted baccy to me.
Actually I do have enough in my tupperware tub to last me another 3 years or so but it is going to get tougher each year to find places to light up. Senior living places are big on no-smoking, as my Mother in Law has just gone in one

I applaud your ability to make a decision like that, my friend. I have a 90 year old aunt who still lives in her home and hits the casino regularly. Mom is in her 70s and has no intent to slow down. Their advice to me is to live like you are young as long as you can, and never think about getting old.

Myself, I smoked one or two blends exclusively for 20 years before discovering the huge variety that I had been missing. I have tried 101 different tobacco blends in the last 6 years, and purchased more pipes in the last 3 years than in the previous 20. I give away or experiment with what I don't like, and enjoy what I do like with abandon.

I agree, there is little time to waste on bad tobacco, bad pipes, bad food, bad booze, bad people. Do what is right for you, and live life like you mean it.

If I live to a point where I need to be put in a home I'll stab anyone who tries to take my pipes away with the stinger!

There is no way on God's green earth they'll be having the pleasure of my company in any damn institution that doesn't allow me to partake in nicotine, oh no, not on their Nelly. If it came to the crunch I'd be exiting the planet by my own hand on my own terms before I'll be dictated to about smoking and or drinking (although I don't really do the latter).
