That's what my wife tells me. And I tell her. "Yes I am. But I ain't alone."
You see, I love Halloween. I get to watch again all of those sick, scary, blood curtailing movies. Halloween 1,2,3,4,5,. Michael Myers, Saw 1, Saw 2. And I love watching them late at night when it's dark, and hopefully raining. The rain seems to add a more eerie sense of creepiness to the experience.
On the flip side. My wife can't understand why I can laugh at Seinfeld episodes I've seen hundreds of times, or Chevy Chase and the Vacation movies over and over.
I keep telling her that I really don't need a lot in life to be happy.

I certainly wouldn't want to submit myself to purposeful terror, but your final statement strikes a chord. Life is rarely dull when you're easily entertained!

The Vacation movies KILL ME!!! LOVE them. I've seen Elf two dozen times and see it as one of the finest films ever :) I love the holiday flicks, Halloween through Christmas. Should be Epic!

I think you're talking two different genres, both worthy, but distinct. Horror films are one thing and humor another. And within each of those, there are different styles and tastes, vastly different. The best horror films, for me, are the ones where the attacker, maniac or shark, stays off screen a lot, to let the audiences' imagination work, rather than just doing in one victim after another. Likewise, with humor, there are such an array of senses of humor. What is wildly funny to one audience leaves another stony faced. Many of us like a really diverse selection of humor, but other humor leaves us cold (most people really). It's not film, but I had forgotten when I last went to the circus how brilliant a good crew of professional clowns can be -- quick, subtle, magician-like, and dramatic. So much dull, clumsy clowning is done, when you see it done by real artists, the humor just washes over you. When I first heard the Car Guys on public radio, I thought they were coarse and grating, but for years I have been a real devotee of their wacky but intelligent humor. So it goes. What I like, many find boring or just indecipherable.

I think it's hard coded into our DNA, Frank. Give me some red meat. A piece of bread. My pipes. A glass or two of bourbon. A favorite book or movie. Man, I'm a happy camper.
My wife is infinitely more complex than me. But then I believe most women run deeper than men.

I've probably watched "A Christmas Story" 500 times and still laugh. Fragile - must be Italian.
My wife doesn't understand why I watch it several times a year between Thanksgiving and Christmas. She says once she's seen a movie she has no interest in seeing it again.

Radio humor strikes me as harder than other forms because it's all timing. Not just timing of delivery, but of the phrases themselves and how long it will take the audience to understand them. It's a big part of writing too.

papipeguy,
I hear the same thing about "Married With Children". After 30 years I still laugh my ass off. Women just don't get it.
Women don't get it. There definitely wired different. But my wife can watch "Dirty Dancing" and "Sex In The City" hundreds of times.

Guess I'm pretty easily entertained as well. Pop in anything "Monty Python", and I'm in laughing heaven. Can't think of any women I know that like any of their offerings.
