A relatively new pipemaker out of Italy who trained under David Iafisco. His work looks incredible so far. I decided to give him a shot and snagged this beautiful danish style oval shank pot with a stabilized mammoth accent inlay. Excited to fire it up!

I've almost pulled the trigger on at least one of these pipes, but what held me back is the shape of the buttons: not knowing if I'd like it or not. I haven't seen buttons that protrude out on the sides like that. They're normally tapered inward at least a bit. I don't like having any sharp edges on the button. Since you've smoked a few of these pipes, how do you feel about his buttons? Are the edges pretty well rounded over or are they a little pointy? It's hard to tell from pictures alone.

For me the buttons are perfectly comfortable. I had the same thought at first, as visually they do look a little different, but as far as I can tell it’s purely aesthetic, doesn’t feel funny in the clench at all.

Was chatting to Angelo last week about a couple pipes in his shop. I hadn't realized he was the same one behind Il Cerchio pipes until he mentioned working with Davide.

Those are really beautiful pipes. It surprises me that people still choose to go into this business, though of course it is a pleasant surprise. I guess being in Canada, it feels like a dead industry :(
