If you get arrested for bank robbery that means you weren't successful, being caught and all, so shouldn't it be attempted bank robbery, and in that case no one should actually ever get charged with bank robbery?

Pondering this while enjoying some 2018 CRF in a meer.

robbing a bank is stupid. You'll get more robbing a grocery store and have a better chance of getting the heck out of there.
Also if you get the money and caught any time after that you succeeded at the robbery just not the post robbery.
Honestly though standing on the street corner is a better way to get extra cash for more CRF. I assume that's the seed of that thought train.

sometimes people say dumb stuff when in movies also when they're unwilling participants in a bank robbery.

If you are caught during the robbery, I suppose it could be considered attempted. If you get caught afterwards, it would be a successful bank robbery, an unsuccessful getaway.

Once the money has passed to your hands, it’s a successful “robbery”. You just haven’t yet gotten away yet.
