Greetings all
I have just finished my first tin of Night Cap. I have all so smoked a few house English blends with Latakia, and I have all so just ordered a tin of Mac Baren vintage Syrian.I have thoroughly enjoyed them. Some thing about the wood smokey smell reminds me of back home in Africa, sitting around a camp fire in the bush under the stars with the night sounds of African animals in the back ground.

Anyway my question is this can you guys recommend any Latakia blends that you would recommend. I all so wouldn't mind something with aromatic in it as we'll.

I see Cornell & Diehl seem to have a few Latakia blends.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Im with ya Plank I have a lot of aromatic and Vaper style pipe tobacco open and in jars in my cellar and I smoke them from time to time but, the oriental heavy blends are just where my favorite tastes are for some reason.
A good flake with a bit of Latakia and a casing is Samual Gawith Chocolate Flake. I like it and apparently lots of others do too because sometimes its hard to find. Gawith & Hogarth make a similar flake with the Lakland twang to it.

The Frogmorton series seems to be a must try for you, lat-forward with slight aromatic influences.

I've just begun smoking latakia, also. I've only tried the Frog Morton original blend, so far and really like it. I'll order the other Frog Morton blends in my next tobacco order. I'll give your NiteCap a try too.

My favorite Latakia blends are Peterson's Old Dublin and Mac Baren's Plumcake. I just opened a tin of Plumcake last night and smoked it for the first time. It is great.

Hearth & Home has several - I've tried Daybreak, House of Lords, Victorian Stroll, and of course Black House. All quite tasty.

Welcome to the fold. The dark leaf is where its at. Here are a few of my favorites: Star of the East, Odessa, Red Odessa, Engine 98, Campfire, Odyssey, Westminster, Charing Cross, Abingdon, Pirate Kake, London Mixture, Nightcap and Balkan Sasieni.

Depends how much latkia you like in a blend, Nightcap has alot I think. Have you tried MM965 by Dunhill? That's a winner. I like C&D Billy Budd alot, it's got a lot of lat in it, as well as a very pronounced maduro cigar leaf, it's like smoking a maduro cigar pretty much. Pirate Kake is also another lat blend I hear good reviews of.

I think Squadron Leader deserves a try. Many see it as a benchmark medium English blend and many people have tried it. I'm not a huge fan of Latakia, and I normally smoke straight Va or VaPerO blends. However, when I want some Latakia I reach for SL.

Early Morning Pipe by Dunhill is quite tasty although with a bit more emphasis on the Orientals, rather than the Latakia. In a similar style, Presbyterian Mixture is also worth a go.

For a middle of the road mixture, I would actualy prefer Samuel Gawith's Squadron Leader over Dunhill's MM 965.

Considering that you enjoyed Nightcap, you should maybe try Ashton's Artisan's Blend which is a nice and creamy smoke that like Nightcap features some Perique and a substantial portion of Latakia although in this case it is of the rarer Syrian variety.

I would also second Mac Baren's Plumcake for a different approach to a mixture (a rum-cased burley, virginia and kentucky based black cavendish with latakia used merely as a condiment). I find it lends itself well to smoking in the heat of Summer.

I will agree with Old Dublin. It's a perfect blend in my opinion. I've found nothing like it. Nightcap is pretty good. I like Larry's Blend from H&H, but I've only had a few smokes of it. I've gone through at least four tins of Blue Mountain as well. It's pretty good. And of course, Frog Morton is an excellent all day smoke. Try anything and everything with latakia in it. The Vintage Syrian is next on my list to try. If you get there first, let us know how it is.

+1 Phillip.
The Plum Pudding (NOT to be confused with Macbaren's Plum ) and the Mississippi River are devine. And Joe Lankford, the blender, is just an awesome individual.
I also like Dan's 'Midnight Ride'. I mentioned it before and someone said there were lots of local blends and it was hard to tell what that was... but but it's tinned!

Having come back to this, I would add my voice for Old Dublin. Squadron Leader and SG Balkan Flake are also tasty, but none of these are lat bombs.
I second H&H Larry's Blend for a blend with more orientals to go with the lat, but still lots of that smoky stuff. For something quite different, MacB HH Vintage Syrian is a top-notch blend.
I can't recommend a cross-over, because I can never find one I want to smoke more than about 2 ounces of.
