I Need Help Identifying and Dating These Pipes

Here are two pipes I recently purchased that have the Peterson "P" on the stems. I've tried to find any photos of when they possibly were made by Peterson and I would love some help from my buds on here. If you have any info, that would be WONDERFUL. I've dug up some history about Pre-Patent/Patent Era Peterson's, but I'm very reserved about claiming that these were made during that time. There are no patent markings or "Made in Ireland" type stamps on the stem, only the "P" that Peterson is so known for as you can see pretty clearly in the second photo.

They look like African Meer, no longer made, IMHO find out when African Meer was phased out and start from there, I have 2 African GBD pipes, mine are smooth not gnarley like yours but I believe of the same material. The old cajun

Look like pete meers I have one as well but its a smooth poker

African block meerschaum from about 1970, ranging from $18.50 - $21.00; from Iwan Ries' catalog.

I think there are some Peterson-only websites that you might check with, because Peterson meerschaums go way back in time.

Looking at the photo, and noting the style of the "P" and the African meerschaum, I'm fairly certain that the pipe is a Pioneer. You can find the markings here. The company is oft mistaken for Petersons. However, the company is known for some very quality meerschaum pipes, especially meer-lined pipes.
Hope the link helps. I have a few of these, so it stood out immediately.

Have you cleaned/smoked either yet? Mines smoking like a dream.
