So the other day my wife says to me, "you know you guys always talk about how the pipe mellows you out, maybe I should start smoking a pipe." I assume at that point that she is just humoring me, but last night when I got home from work she says, "I think I could use a smoke to relax, can we?" To which I answered of course. So I loaded up two pipes, poured some mellowing beverages to go with our smokes and we went out on the deck for a nice relaxing time of smoking and conversation. It was really nice and I think she enjoyed it. I don't see it being a regular thing for her, but a once in awhile thing to enjoy with me. And the other day we took some cool photos at a wedding with my pipes together, so I'll post some of those soon too.

My girl has puffed on a cigar of mine once or twice, but has yet to give a pipe a go. Cool to have one more thing in common. Probably better for the wallet it looks like it'll be occassional lol. Good smokes with good folks.

My girlfriend is like your wife. She likes it occasionally and even has her own pipe. One pipe is probably enough for her as she only smokes like 1 a month.

shaintiques with any luck she will catch the bug :)
My wife smokes 1-3 bowls a day. It is great sharing the hobby with her. Plus she is happy for us to both have more pipes. The good news though is you can get by with less pipes than you would need for 2 separate people as you can share 1 set of pipes. Naturally she has some pipes of her own and so do i but it works out well.

got one of my girlfriends smoking a pipe... that was a fun day...off to the pipe shop..."I want one that looks like the one you let me smoke" the mini churchwarden? "and what tobacco did you have" points at the jar of a light slightly aro blend"ooh this one smells good too" orders an ounce each of the same blend as me and the darkest(coal black),wettest(think used chewing tobacco moisture levels), most horrifying cherry/chocolate blend I've ever seen...

she loves the light blend I get I can't get rid of that stuff she got for almost a month... I finally put it on a plate with a paper wrapped around it to dry it too smoke ability tried it once and decided I can't smoke something that flavor. did wind up tossing it into a fire place because the room note was at least pleasant.

I think it was awesome that you were able to have such a relaxing conversation while you were both smoking a pipe and a drink together. For me those moments are rare as we are both always running off doing one thing or another. I'd like to try to share a smoke with her but then I would have to admit her into my cave(shes allowed only brief visits). I'll bring an extra pipe next time we visit the inlaws and try there. Cheers, Anthony

While hubby and I certainly enjoy kicking back in the evening and chatting over our pipes ... we usually don't like the same styles of pipes or same types of tobacco blends, so the PAD and TAD is doubled. He does love the room note on pretty much all my sweet aromatics, and I don't mind the smell of his lat-bombs ... but the Billy Budd is strictly an outside or at-work smoke!

I convinced my wife to try a pipe. She didn't hate it - but I doubt she will try it again. Oh well. Good for you and your wife for being open minded to try it - congrats!

Thats awesome! Im just glad mine puts up with it especially since i started after we got married. I Think smoking cigars before we met was a saving grace in that respect.
