Well folks, due to an unexpected health problem that was both persistent and unexplained, I was forced into that horrible state of existence where the pipe was forbidden by both the wife and the doctor! (They ganged up on me!) I haven’t had a pipe in almost 2 years!!!

...but fear not my brothers in briar because the issue has been resolved and my matches are once again at the ready!

Only one question remains...which pipe and which tobacco to smoke! What would be your pipe/tobacco after a 2 year layoff?

I would recommend buying some McCleeland 5100 tonight or 2015 and enjoy =)

McClelland 40th anniversary blend.
It came out while you were in the gulag. I am happy to supply a bowl or 3 if you cannot find.

Maybe stay with milder leaf for a while, and 40th Anniversary would be a good one.

I don't know what type of leaf you like. Yet I do concur with the milder notion. For myself, after a two year span of no piping at all, I would reach for a straight burley flake, one of Wessex Burley Slice or Solani ABF.

Man; 2 years. I thought my 8-9 month layoff would be lengthy (4.5 months anticipated left)...
Welcome back! What was your favorite before the layoff? Go with that and treat yourself to a new pipe.
