Hi all,
Working through my first tin of Peterson Hyde Park and love the taste. Does anyone know a taste alike? I've ordered some Ennerdale, Kendal Flake and of course more Hyde Park.
Also, does the flower/soap taste endure through aging?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply Rothnh. I find Hyde Park to have a very pronounced floral taste to it that I really enjoy. Tobacco reviews.com people have commented that they think Gawaith Hoggarth blends it for Peterson which is where the Lakeland flavour comes from. Having never tried a Lakeland tobacco before I related the floral flavour that I pick up to be the Lakeland taste.
I'm really looking for a Lakeland tobacco that has more/stronger floral tastes to it as I enjoy it so much. I've dedicated a new Captain Pete to break in with Hyde Park to hopefully bring out more of that floral taste. It's really that particular topping I'm looking for.
Hyde Park packs a healthy wallop of nic for sure.

Thanks Rothnh,
I will give those a try next time I put an order in and report back. Here's hoping I can find a bulk taste similar to Hyde Park, yum!
Btw Hyde Park smokes beautifully, no/few delights and nice and dry at the bottom with no dottle if dried a bit before smoking.

Cool, this stuff was totally off my radar, but it sounds right up my alley hopefully.
Will add some to my next order, along with Irish Flake which I've never tried either.
I'm hoping it'll be St. Bruno-esque!
All of the Peterson's are made in Germany by K&K

oddly, they describe it as a Scottish type, but Peterson

describes it as traditional English:

Gawith&Hoggarth are the distributors of Peterson bacco for England though.
Many folks get confused with the terminology, so I tend to call a traditional English a British-style tobacco, like Mac Baren ODF, GLPease Jack-Knife Plug and a few others are traditional British technique.
Calling something English, to most Americans, means Latakia has to be in there somewhere.
Good luck on your quest, I'm currently on the same journey but I prefer soapy to floral.
Hard to find the right kind!

I have been working my way through a sampler of GH's after trying Bosun Cut Plug from a local shop. Bosun Cut Plug is still my favorite. but, none of it would replace my stack of Hyde Park.

So I cracked a tin of Ennerdale I've had for awhile to see how it compared to Hyde Park. After reading a bunch of reviews on Lakeland tobaccos, I figured Ennerdale would be much more floral based on the reviews. Initially on first lighting it did, but then the other sweet flavourings took over. Overall I thought it was good stuff but not as floral as Hyde Park and sweeter. So while the search continues I have to say I look forward to trying some more Ennerdale which burned dry and is a quality aromatic and I would recommend it to anyone looking to try something aromatic and clean burning.
I've got some Kendal Flake coming so we'll see how that compares. Might be just have to stock up on tins of Hyde Park and forgo bulk, as Hyde Park has the floral taste without the added sweetness.
