New here and new to pipes, but see I have stumbled into a nice community!

I have been smoking a few months, but only on weekends (happy wife, happy life). I've been trying to sample anything I can and think I like Balkans, but need a larger sample size to confirm. I currently rely on a small stable of cobs, but am looking to splurge on a briar and morta pipes in the not too distant future.

Welcome to the forum and welcome from California!
Cobs are excellent, any ideas on what your first pipe will be?

Thank you, Devil. Not yet sure about specifics. I'm a pragmatist, so I'm thoroughly happy with the cobs right now and figure I'll do my best to delay the PAD. However, I also try my best to be a realist so I've accepted that it's gonna happen sooner rather than later :)

I very much appreciate the photo of the Sierras. If all goes to plan, I will be posting a photo this summer of me with a pipe in the mountains around the Bishop area!

Welcome! Smoke what ya love and love what ya smoke. If you think you like Balkans, try an ounce or two in bulk of a few different Balkan blends from smokingpipes.com or someone of the sort and take your time with them. My intro to Balkans was Sunset Harbor Flake, which I still love and keep on hand. I highly recommend it.

No rush, cobs are terrific! Good ole’ TAD/PAD can sneak up on you quick. Bishop is a neat little town and a beautiful area with out a doubt. Sounds like it will be a fun trip, enjoy your trek into the mountains.

Right on. When you say it's beautiful, you must mean those few months when it's not winter here! :)

DC/MD is nice too. Have family in Gburg.

Greetings...from New York City...aka "The Big Shit-Hole".

Never been to Ithaca. Wait!...I think I might have passed thru Ithaca on my way to Lake Seneca back in 1971. Nope...sorry, it was Utica, NY.

Anyway...enjoy all the pipe-ish things that you'll read here...and the guys that post comments, critiques, diverse opinions are a nice bunch

Have fun.

Welcome, from Southern California. Also a novice here. You'll see there are representatives from all over the experience spectrum on here. My wife is from Manlius (Syracuse suburb). Not the best piping weather there at this time of year. Bishop...much better! Although not at this time of year, come to think of it. Enjoy your journey (both piping, and the trek to Bishop).

Thanks sumus. They should hire you to handle marketing for the City.
