I didn't want to crap up the thread, New Dunhill Tobacco Collaboration w/The Rolling Stones with the story, so decided to make a new one to tell it.
It's funny how one thing leads to another ...
I was working on on Adam's review of the new Sobranie for Dec 1. I had an idea for a design aspect, and went looking for a past story to remind me how it was done.
The story I was looking for was, Finals of the Tobacco World Cup.
When I found it, I thought it would be a good idea to post that one in the forums, so I did.
On the way to looking for that article, I passed by another one about the change in distribution of CAO, which is here - CAO and Dunhill Pipe Tobacco Distribution in Question.
When I looked at the photo where I made a question mark out of tobacco tins ...
... the tins for European distribution, of which I removed the obnoxious warnings and left the space blank, made it look like they were smiling mouths.
Then I thought it would be funny to have a tin sticking out it's tongue at the health warnings. That quickly evolved into the Rolling Stones tongue sticking out logo.
I posted it on Facebook just with the tongue sticking out. Then when I looked at it again, and read the name and saw it ended with "Rolls". I realized there was a tighter tie-in, and decided to have more fun with Photoshop.
I just changed the word, "Navy" to "Drum". It was fun matching up the background color and font style. It's not 100% perfect, but maybe 98%, which is close enough.
Then after having fun with Photoshop, and getting ready to post it, the fake breaking news story was completely spontaneous just to have some text to post with the photo.
Now I know why it took me half the day to set up Adam's New Balkan Sobranie review ... I'm not sure if I am just an awesome multi-tasker, or if I have the worst case of adult ADD in the world.
