Being a novice I have been reading a lot about the different bowl packing methods and theories. Then I see this General MacArthur corn cob pipe and wonder how in the world one would pack that? It must be over 3" deep. Would you just fill-up the whole thing using your favorite method or would you leave an air pocket or what? Seems like it would be hard to re-lite it if it went out half-way down. Maybe MacArthur never lit his
Just curious.

I just did some checking, He did mostly smoke cigars but He did smoke His pipe too. It said He smoked what ever pipe tobacco was on sale at the PX on base.

His actual pipe was more for show. If you look at pictures of him and his pipe, you'll notice that the shank was close to the top of the pipe, with about 3 1/2 inches below, just to draw attention to him. I doubt if the bowl depth was even two inches.

He was a true American hero, who fought hard to win in Asia, and turned a tyranical shite hole into one of the best places on earth to live
