I dont know what stste your in but here in Inindiana there was a cort ruling that a school cannot keep a item that is legal even if its agenst the schools rules. I would all states would follow that seeing as its theft if they dont.

Do you live in the USA? I do not know the where you live but I do not think any organization outside of law enforcement can confiscate private property.

I won't claim to be an expert but I know plenty of kids who have had their knives returned and one kid who even had his rifle returned to him. I assume if you make a big enough of a stink they will give you your items back. Post here and let us know how it turns out!

Another quick note! When I was 18 I was caught with a hunting knife in my car during one of the school's searches. The school refused to give me my knife back. If you arn't making any progress through the school system use the legal system, I went to the police station *after a month of emails and visits to the school* and had a police officer escort me into the principles office where I promptly got my knife back.
