I watched the series as well. I learned a lot of information I'd never before encountered or hadn't remembered. I didn't know he lost his dad and grew up mostly with a single mom, and as a teenager he learned tobacco farming from his mother and also surveying from experienced surveyors. He was a British officer in the French and Indian War and suffered two major defeats. I thought Yorktown was more of a face-off where the British backed down, but it was more like a successful siege. Because the series was chronological and had so much ground to cover, it sometimes had a patriotic pageant feel to it, but there was some good acting in there. The lead actor didn't have a lot of facial resemblance to George but had the height and size. A contemporary said of him that despite his courtly manner and upbringing, George had a ferocious look in his eyes, and he was generally reputed to have a titanic temper. It seems he died mostly of bad doctoring, bleeding and such.

I watched it all and found it very enlightening. I was looking for some scenes with 18th century type pipes but didn't see any. I could have missed a scene or two because of a snack break.

Yes, I watched it yesterday as well. I found it a very good to watch. I've seen a number of Washington movies, mini-series etc. He set an exampled that has long been abandoned, especially today. Looking forward to watching, "Grant" on the History Channel.

I can’t wait to watch today. Rainy day here in AZ good day to binge some history. Not surprising many of of us like history. I don’t read as much as I used to, but David McCullagh is fantastic reading. 1776 and John Adams.
