Hi from South Africa

Hi
My name is Thomas and I live in Pretoria, South Africa.
I have been a pipe smoker for about 4 years and also started collecting round about the same time. The imported tobacco is very expensive, mainly due to the exchange rate and duty's. Luckily the locally produced Virginia tobacco is affordable and of a high standard.
In time I would post some photos of interesting pipes that I am struggling with regarding identification or which year etc.
Hoping to learn a lot from the old experienced hands.

There is a very limited pipe scene here. Youngsters are not interested and it seems like the culture and ritual is lost to them. Vaping 8O seems to be all the rage. Why?

Don't be so sure. We have an ever-growing pipe club here in CT, and some younger members. Local carver Charl Goussard in the unofficial 'convenor'. I think pipe smoking is making a slow but steady comeback.

Thank you for the link, I am a member already. Great to hear that there is movement in Cape Town. As far as I know there is no club in Gauteng anymore.
I must ask Oom Wesley, maybe he can convene something for the Gauteng folk.
