I just wanna say, I've been using a soft flame pipe lighter for 2 years. Recently I decided to try the hemp wick. I got the setup that holds your Bic and wraps the wick around it, and it takes almost zero extra time for me to light bowls, so extra effort seems not to be a problem. The tobacco seemed to be tasting better too, but was it my imagination?

Well, it was not my imagination. I went out for a stroll the other day and grabbed my regular soft flame by accident, forgetting the wick. No biggie, I thought, so I lit up. Well let me tell you, after every single light I could taste the butane, and it did not taste good. So I experimented back and forth and sure enough it definitely sullies the flavor of the baccy for several puffs afterward. With the wick it tastes good everytime. I will never be without it again. It's cheap in spools, takes almost no extra time, and let's all the flavor of the tobacco come through. For all you seasoned and experienced veterans out there, I highly suggest giving it an open minded whirl, you won't be disappointed.

I thought the same, and I was used to the butane too. But once I used it the wick long enough, my tolerance for the butane went away and in it's wake left some flavor elements that I was missing the whole time. It takes a couple days, but it's like eating sugar: once you're off it for awhile you don't want it anymore, and you realize how much it was affecting you. Our bodies our amazing, and will ward off bad stuff for us, but also tell us thank you when those things are removed. I think if folks gave it a solid try they would really like it! And whatever s all amount of $$ you spend on the wick is saved on less lighter fluid ;)

I doubt that! I think that people aren't sensitive to things that they endure a lot of the time, that's all. Like I said, I used regular lighters and never really noticed until I gave the wick a committed try.

I wasn't trying to convert anyone, just sharing an insight i had. Nothing I am saying is exaggerated either, I was as surprised as any to enjoy the wick
Really? Not trying to convert? The supposed health benefits in your second post? And the fiscal benefits of lighting with a hemp wick? What will I save in a year? Your best estimate please.

Amusing to say the least.

Whatever makes your pipe smoking enjoyable is good. For me the easy bic lighter works. I don't notice a taste from it. Perhaps if I lived in a climate where the sun was always shining I'd use a magnifying glass, because really, what could possibly be better than that? The answer is easy. Easy is a cheap bic lighter that works without impacting the taste.
