If you buy/clean estate pipes on a fairly regular basis, this is something that helps. Baby bottle brushes....they sell them pretty much everywhere, I bought my set at Wal-Mart for around $5.00. The set contains around 5-7 brushes depending on brand and they come in several pipe-friendly sizes. Some of the brushes fit shanks, some fit draft holes and some fit Peterson system reservoirs. They are quite durable and gentle on the briar while still being more aggressive than a pipe cleaner. These may have been mentioned before, but as I was using them yesterday, I was wishing I had found them 20 years ago, as they save a lot of time and do a better job of cleaning out a dirty pipe.

Thanks for sharing your idea. It's always nice to expand one's resources and tools. This reminds me of the mascara brushes I use to clean pipe shanks. At 5¢ apiece, they're cheap enough to dispose of after one use.

Wow! Both baby bottle brushes and mascara brushes are really good ideas. I sometimes use a soft bristle toothbrush ... costs more than the baby bottle brush, and the end gets in the way.

Interesting. I'd know where to look for mascara brushes; not sure where they would carry baby bottle brushes! I guess in the baby department. Though I'm still scratching my head how those little brushes clean out a baby bottle. When I was a kid I think they used to boil them in water.
