I found this little Dunhill pipe while browsing the local classifieds. The ad was over a month old so I thought it had been sold already, but it was still available so I grabbed it.
The markings are;
83
Dunhill Bruyere
Made in England 5
3A (the three is circled)
I'm guessing that 83 is the style number, but I've found some conflicting info online. It also has a stinger, which didn't think Dunhill had. The stem is in really nice shape as well. I'm not sure what I will do with it though, but had to get it!
Thanks!

Yes, 83 is the shape number. When you say a stinger, do you mean an inner tube? 1955 or 1965 depending on the size of the 5.

The 5 looks smaller than the D in ENGLAND to me, which would be 1955. The pipe looks to be in excellent condition!

Fantastic score! That is a sweet Zulu. You will love that pipe. I personally discard the inner tubes to all Dunhill pipes.

best I can do for now. I might have to start a proper thread for this pipe. I'm curious as to how to clean the exterior of the bowl without removing the stain on it.
Never thought I'd have a classic Dunhill in the stable gents!

Can Anyone shed some light on the 3A marking?
The 3 donotes group size
and the A the finish type

A= bruyere,

S=shell

R=root

I use a worn piece of scotchbrite on the bowl tops, followed 8,000 micromesh and up. That will remove the darkening, without breaking into raw wood.
Saliva and a paper towel will do even less damage. I used that technique to go from this.

To this.
